Brass At The Castle

A celebration of Cumbria’s Brass Band heritage. The event will launch the Cumbria Brass Network which will promote cohesion, inclusivity and youth involvement in banding. The organisers aim to break down barriers to participation, especially for those facing rural transport challenges, as well as marginalised communities. The weekend will link bands with schools, community groups and individuals with special needs. There is a rich musical tapestry of brass music in Cumbria which this event will help to capture, document, share and sustain through recordings and this dedicated website, to create a lasting impact on this region’s cultural legacy. “Brass at the Castle” is for all groups with a connection to brass: from brass bands to swing bands, wind groups to Bollywood. All are invited to come and share your love of brass with new audiences at the beautiful Lowther Castle venue.
